Good Ship!

Jeff here with a post with no pics as the wi-fi on the ship is slooooooooooooooooooooooow! Personally, I'm looking at it as a reminder to be more mindful and more present. Between the gorgeous hills of Taormina, the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean, and this amazing ship and crew - it's not too hard to do.

As many of you know, I have always been leery of going on a cruise. Maybe it was from watching the Posedin Adventure too many times as a kid or the knowledge that no matter how big the ship is on shore, it's very small in the ocean. And who wants to be floating on a giant ship with 4 - 5,000 people? Ewwwwww!

But I have to say, I kind of dig this cruise culture. Granted, I've spoken to a bunch of people on the cruise who have not only cruised on this line before, but also the other majors like Royal Caribbean, etc. They have all said this ship and this line is exemplary, and it shows.

The food we've had so far has been really good! Last night, we had a wine pairing dinner at a restaurant run by Wine Spectator. They paired wines from all over the world, CA represent!, and paired it with 7 incredible food courses created by the executive chef of the ship - a guy hand-picked by Jacques Pepin himself - not too shabby of credentials. It was really a memorable evening.

While there are a few downsides (the add-on packages, the area around the pool being crazy crowded - but never overfull - in the afternoons when everone gets back from excursions), the upsides eclipse them. People are way friendly. They introduce themselves and strike up conversations. So far, we really run into anyone too horrible. You can do as much or as little as you want and the boat is big enough so that it never feels too crowded.

I can only imagine what going on a cruise with a bunch of friends would be like....(hint, hint)
